Private Therapeutic Pilates Session
Private sessions are one-on-one instruction focused on injury recovery, alignment and correct movement patterns. Personalized sessions teach participants how to move from the core, release and stretch tight muscles and lengthen and strengthen. Participants will learn correct posture, breathwork, and different methods for relaxing the body. All sessions include recommendations for a personalized home program.
Beginner Pilates Reformer Group
Our personalized small group classes are unlike other group classes. We limit our class size so we can focus on the unique needs of each individual. Participants receive special attention on alignment, form, strengthening, range of motion, stretching, and breath work. We teach basic anatomy and get people back in touch with their bodies. Small classes promote a community of wellness and support. We also suggest home program ideas and review health information in class. Beginner Group Pilates Reformer Classes require that you have attended at least 1 Private Sessions at Joyful Movement or the equivalent.
Intermedidate Pilates Reformer Group
Our personalized small group classes are unique in that we limit our class size so we can focus on the individual needs of each person. Advanced Pilates Reformer Group
Advanced Group Pilates Reformer Classes require that you have attended at least 20 Private or Group Sessions at Joyful Movement or the equivalent, and have a background in dance, Yoga, sports or other movement based disciplines. Our personalized small group advanced classes are unique in that we limit our class size so we can focus on the individual needs of each person. Participants receive special attention on alignment, form, strengthening, range of motion, stretching, and breath work. Our advanced classes delve into the advanced Pilates repertoire and advanced movement techniques. Advanced Classes require a dedication to a consistent home program.
Bodywork using Advanced Muscle Reconditioning
AMR (Advanced Muscle Reconditioning) is a type of bodywork that employs short, refined strokes in a single direction. Strokes are usually cross-grain to the muscle and are repeated in the same area in order to "iron out" knots or spasms in muscle and soft tissue. AMR is an innovative technique that allows practitioners to locate and treat both chronic and acute pain in the body. AMR is used to treat back and hip pain, head and neck pain, and different sports injuries. This work requires continued communication between client and practitioner to maximize effectives for each session.
Alternative Care Consulting
We offer 1-hour consulting and coaching sessions through Zoom or in person on a diverse spectrum of health issues including back pain, chronic illness, and pre- and post-cancer treatment programs and alternatives. We guide you to a better understanding of how different types of alternative care can support your current health or medical program. Chronic health issues can be overwhelming with huge amounts of data and information, and partnering with a support coach can provide direction.
